VISITING US DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Here is what you need to know......

Extensive measures have been taken to make sure a visit to the Model Village is enjoyable as always, and as safe as possible for our staff and visitors.

To protect our staff and all customers, you should not visit us if you have, or anyone in your household has, any symptoms of Covid-19 (such as a fever or new and regular cough).

Pre-Booking is highly recommended.  You may see plenty of spaces available, but they book up fast, often fairly last minute. If you do not book and we are at capacity, you will have to come back later or another day.

We are currently operating at about 50% of our normal capacity

Extra extensive cleaning will take place through the day and screens are set up at all serving areas, with hand gels available.

The Model Village is an outdoor attraction set in a large 4 acre garden, operating a one-way route. There are distancing markers on the floor throughout the gardens. For extra comfort & enjoyment we suggest keeping two floor markers apart. There are some indoor/undercover areas but, due to limited indoor cover, we recommend coming prepared for any rain showers. We recommend you allow at least 1.5 hours for your visit.

Visitors are requested not to pass others, but wait for step-aside areas. You can go around as many times as you like.

Face Masks - you do not have to wear a face mask to visit the Model Village gardens, However, we do have a couple of indoor exhibitions you may like to visit and an indoor takeaway coffee shop/gift shop, where masks are required for anyone over 11 years (except for medical exemptions or if wearing one is likely to cause severe distress).  There is an outdoor refreshment kiosk on the terrace usually open 11-3 during August.

Payments on site will be by debit/credit card only.

Our toilets are open to visitors - we have some next to the takeaway coffee shop and some in the middle of the gardens.  A disabled toilet is available next to the coffee shop.

Our coffee shop (open 10am to 5pm)  will be serving takeaway drinks, sandwiches and snacks. There will be no indoor seating, but tables available on the large terrace

Want to come at the quieter times?  Afternoons are quieter, especially after 3.30pm. In the summer, Friday through to Monday are the quietest days, with Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays being the busier days of the week.

The car park adjacent to the Model Village is a council owned and operated pay and display car, card payments can be made at one of the machines (though we'd recommend having a few coins in case). They also use pay-by-mobile either using a number to call or if you download the 'Parkmobile' app

Our optional 4D theatre experience, small indoor mini-golf and our evening illuminations will not be available for the time-being as they are not operable with social distancing measures.

Please be aware that there are leaflets circulated through hotels and accommodations - these were printed and distributed back in December and January, prior to the covid-19 outbreak. The information on these will be incorrect, please check back on this website only for correct and up-to-date information.

CLOSING TIMES

DURING AUGUST THE PARK CLOSES 1.5 HOURS AFTER LAST ENTRY .... The village is 4 acres and much bigger than many people anticipate, we recommend you arrive earlier and allow at least 1.5 hours to make the most of your visit and avoid disappointment.Admission is not possible after last entry as the park will start to close behind the last visitors and will close earlier if everyone has gone.
